Among Lucian’s works inherited by the renaissance Italy from Byzantium, his Calumnia was one of the pieces that more interest caused if we consider its wide circulation. Spain was not the exception in this curiosity for the text, although we had to wait until the 17th century to have a Castilian version. Three translations more would be written before the end of the century. Only one of them was printed: Que no debe darse crédito fácilmente a la murmuración; the circumstances which could condition its place of impression, the anonymity of this Castilian version or the model of translation that was used will be studied in this work.
