The outstanding work developed by Maria Guerrero through her long activity as actress and producer, began in the 1894-95 season with two important achievements. On one side, she attracted around her the most important and compromised authors, initiating the necessary innovation in contemporary theatre. On the other, thank to her, the Spanish Classical Theatre had one of its best moments. To this Theatre the actress dedicated one day per week, the «classic Mondays», and with its performances she travelled all over Europe and South America. This article is intended to study the complex work to stage Entre bobos anda el juego, the play that inaugurated the first complete season at the Teatro Español in Madrid (1895- 96). It is important to emphasize her scenographic and artistic work, and Donato Jiménez as well, one of the best interpreters as Don Lucas del Cigarral.
