La lírica y los limites de la ficción

The current literary theory, as a rule, regards every poem as a fictive utterance shaped by imitation of a standard or of an imaginary speech. This article explains the problems which arise when either view is applied to practical criticism, and it also shows the dificulty in deciding the fictionality of a concrete utterance regardless of its context. A solution is suggested: to consider the fictionality of the lyric genre as a question of degree and as a feature to establish in each separate case, which leads us to a historical and pragmatic study of the whole genre.
